krackart and dab

DAVE: look all im saying is
DAVE: there comes a time in every young womans life when she has to come to terms with the decision to gradually morph into a juggalo while all her friends and loved ones watch in dismay

So, this was an idea that my friend Boston (the grey alien guy) and I had before I decided to do it as an assignment. Upon being given the opportunity to do anything for the final project, we decided we would give it a go.

We wanted to redo this panel, in full cosplay.

Terezi (the character passed out on the floor) got caught up with a bad crowd consisting of a temperamental juggalo. Karkat, the other alien pictured, asks Dave (the really lame cool guy with the shades) to consult Terezi about her problems, and thus, put him on speaker crab against his will. He then proceeds to treat Terezi to a therapy session.

Unfortunately, we were on a tight schedule, and I made the mistake of telling Boston to send me an image of her looking at her watch rather than at me, so we had to switch positioning a little bit. We were also unable to remove Boston's arms for the sake of this project, so they are pictured above. We apologize for inaccuracy.

FLASH VIDEO LESSONS

Lesson 1:

1. From what locations can you open a document that was previously open?

  • If you go to the top and hover over "file", the fourth option down should read "open recent". Hover over it and it will show you all recent files.

2. What panel allows you to view information about a selected object, or set options for an active tool?

  • The properties panel.

3. What method does Flash use to automatically create animation from a starting and ending point?

  • The timeline.

Lesson 2:

1. Name two primary differences between Mergeable Shapes and Drawing Objects.
  • When you use Mergeable Shapes, the stroke and fill are considered two different objects. Also, when overlapped, two shapes will automatically merge, while staying two separate shapes when created in Drawing Objects. The stroke and fill are also considered one object in this mode.

CHARACTER DESIGN AND PEN TOOL THING

This thing, oh my god.
This doesn't actually have a gender, and is generally known as just "This". For brevity's sake.
This was entirely technology inspired, as I wanted something a little bit cyberpunk themed, and I guess that's what this is.
It's gonna be into aviation, because flying planes is super cool, especially in futuristic planes. So we're going to set this thing in the future.
It probably saves the world at some time or another and most likely dislikes everyone.

FILM CRITIQUE

(Besides Osmosis Jones, this is my favorite movie ever.)

Epic was really touching, ok.
Really touching. This is the second movie we've watched since exams that has made me want to sob. Ronin was actually Tom Imura, who is my favorite book character ever.

The main subjects it covered were biology, like plants and stuff, and el problemos de la famila.

The plot was basically this chick, MK, who's too cool for school and doesn't like to chill with her lame-o daddio. Of course, that's to be expected, since he sort of comes off as an obsessive loon. I probably would've thought he was crazy too (especially considering his occupation sort of drove her mom away.)
I think the biggest problem regarding that was that MK had this idea that her father valued his job over her, which, as we could see at the end (when he was trashing all his life's work because he thought his daughter was gone), was definitely not true.
The reoccurring theme here was sort of sticking together. Like the tree and leaf analogy that was constantly repeated, the whole deal with the little leaf boy and Ronin (as far as him not wanting to be a leafman and whatnot) and the situation with MK and her father, I definitely think that the purpose of this film was to convey that message.

So, all in all, that was the theme. Gotta stick with the people that love you, and stick to the things you believe in.

I thought the movie was really good from the very beginning. It was funny, and all the acting was done really well, and the animation. BOY HOWDY the animation. You could see every twitch and flinch and emotion and wowza that's all I could focus on for the whole movie. There was, of course, symbolism, and the idea that this all sort of had a bigger meaning (since leaf people probably don't actually exist). Dynamic character development amongst pretty much everyone, Ronin and being less uptight, little leaf boy and being more uptight, and MK getting her stuff straight with her dad. Still, funny, and family friendly, so yeah. Why wouldn't a kid like it?
Except maybe the little rat people.

I can't pick out TOO many weaknesses in this film, because I just loved it so much, but like most children's movies, it was pretty cliche. As far as the message and stuff goes. As for strengths, everything (animation and acting and humor oh my) (not to mention it was super sweet) (yes, that too), and that is all.

Rachel out.
